API ARCHITECTURE

Your checkout sends the request. The approved payment layer handles the transaction.

Exact endpoints, fields, authentication and event behaviour depend on the gateway and processing configuration approved for the merchant. The basic integration pattern is straightforward.

01

Your Checkout

Your site or application collects the order information required for the purchase.

02

Secure Payment Data

The approved integration method securely prepares the payment information for submission.

03

API Request

Your backend sends the transaction to the approved gateway/API configuration.

04

Response + Status

Your system receives the applicable approval, decline or error response and updates the order.

05

Settlement

Approved transactions move through the merchant’s configured batch and funding schedule.

API OR WOOCOMMERCE?

Use the integration path that fits the business you already have.

A custom API is powerful, but not every merchant needs one. PeptidePay supports different integration paths so the technology can fit the merchant rather than the merchant fitting the technology.

CHOOSE API WHEN

You control the application.

  • You have a custom storefront, portal or web application.
  • You need payment status to interact with your own order logic.
  • Your developer team can securely manage server-side integration work.
  • You want a checkout experience designed around your own interface.
  • You need more flexibility than a standard ecommerce plugin provides.
CHOOSE WOOCOMMERCE WHEN

Your store already runs on WordPress.

  • Your products and orders already live inside WooCommerce.
  • You prefer plugin/gateway integration over custom development.
  • Your staff already understands the WooCommerce workflow.
  • You do not need to build custom payment orchestration.
  • You want the shortest technical path after merchant approval.
DEVELOPER READINESS

Before your developer touches the API, get these six things straight.

Most launch delays are not caused by typing code slowly. They come from unclear ownership of credentials, untested workflows or building around assumptions that do not match the approved payment configuration.

🔐

Credential Ownership

Know who controls production credentials, who can access them and how secrets will be stored securely.

⌁

Backend Endpoint

Your server needs a reliable place to create payment requests and process applicable transaction responses.

🧾

Order Mapping

Every transaction should map cleanly to your internal order/customer record for support and reconciliation.

↻

Status Handling

Your application should understand approved, declined, failed and pending-style responses where applicable.

↩

Refund Workflow

Decide how authorized staff initiate refunds and how your application reflects them in the order record.

🧪

Test Plan

Define the test cases before launch: success, decline, duplicate clicks, timeouts, refunds and order confirmation.

SECURITY BEFORE CONVENIENCE

Payment credentials do not belong in browser code, screenshots or chat threads.

Custom integrations give you control, which also means your development team has responsibilities. Build around the security model supported by the approved gateway and keep sensitive credentials out of public-facing code.

PRODUCTION DISCIPLINE

Treat payment credentials like banking credentials.

Restrict access, use server-side storage appropriate to your environment, separate test and live configurations, and rotate or revoke credentials if exposure is suspected. Do not hard-code secret credentials into public repositories or frontend JavaScript.

Important: PCI scope and technical requirements depend on how payment data is collected and transmitted. Follow the documentation and security requirements for the gateway/integration that is actually approved for the merchant.
✓ Server-side secretsKeep production credentials away from publicly downloadable browser code.
✓ Test and live separationDo not accidentally send development transactions into a production workflow.
✓ Limited accessOnly people who genuinely need payment credentials should have them.
⚠ Follow actual API documentationThis page explains integration concepts; your developer should build against the exact approved gateway/API specification.
PRE-LIVE TESTING

Don’t test one happy transaction and call the integration finished.

Real customers double-click, abandon pages, use invalid cards, retry transactions and request refunds. Your application should know what to do when the payment is not perfect.

API Launch Test MatrixPRE-LIVE

✓

✓

✓

✓

Build for uncertainty, not just success.

A payment integration should never guess that an order is paid. Your application should rely on the transaction state provided through the approved integration and handle ambiguous/error conditions carefully.

Developer rule: never fulfil a transaction merely because the customer reached a “thank you” page. The order state should come from the actual payment result.
TRANSACTION OPERATIONS

The API is only useful if your team can operate what it builds.

After launch, support, refunds, reconciliation and troubleshooting matter just as much as the original payment request.

Transaction IDsStore the processor/gateway transaction reference with your internal order so support can trace payments quickly.
Status Events*Where supported, event/webhook handling can help your system stay synchronized with transaction state changes.
Refund ControlsRestrict refund access to authorized staff and preserve the relationship between the refund and original transaction.
Settlement AwarenessYour order system and accounting process should distinguish a successful authorization from actual bank settlement timing.
Customer SupportSupport staff should be able to identify whether a payment succeeded before promising a refund or resubmitting a charge.
LoggingKeep useful technical logs without exposing sensitive payment credentials or prohibited card data.
Change ControlTest application updates that touch checkout logic before deploying them into live customer traffic.
ReconciliationBuild a clean link between orders, payment references, refunds and settlement records.
ERROR HANDLING

A good API integration knows when not to retry.

Bad retry logic can create duplicate transactions, confused customers and support problems. Build deliberate handling around the response types supported by the actual API.

STRONG PRACTICE

Know the payment state first.

  • Record the API response tied to the order.
  • Separate customer declines from technical failures where supported.
  • Check uncertain transactions before resubmitting them.
  • Prevent repeated checkout clicks from creating duplicate submissions.
  • Show the customer a useful next step without exposing internal error details.
WHAT CAUSES TROUBLE

Blindly charge again.

  • Automatically retrying after a timeout without checking transaction state.
  • Marking an order paid because the frontend displayed a success page.
  • Logging secret credentials or sensitive payment information.
  • Letting developers test production keys from unsecured local environments.
  • Launching major checkout code changes without an end-to-end test.
API FAQ

Questions developers and peptide merchants ask before integration.

Does PeptidePay offer an API integration path?

Yes. PeptidePay supports an API-oriented integration path for qualifying approved merchants that need a custom checkout or application workflow. Exact technical documentation depends on the gateway and processing configuration approved for the merchant.

Do I need a developer?

For a custom API integration, generally yes. The merchant should have someone capable of securely implementing server-side payment logic, handling responses, testing transaction states and maintaining the integration.

Can I use the API with a completely custom website?

Yes, that is one of the main reasons to choose an API path. The merchant can maintain a custom interface while connecting the approved payment layer behind it.

Should I choose API or WooCommerce?

If the store already runs on WordPress/WooCommerce and does not need custom payment orchestration, the WooCommerce integration path may be simpler. The API path is better suited to custom websites, applications, portals and specialized checkout workflows.

Can a startup get API access?

Startups can apply. Merchant approval comes first. Technical access and the exact integration configuration are provided based on the approved processing setup.

Can API keys be placed in frontend JavaScript?

Secret production credentials should not be exposed in publicly downloadable frontend code. Developers should follow the exact authentication and security requirements provided for the approved API/gateway configuration.

Does the API support webhooks?

Event or webhook capabilities depend on the specific approved gateway/API configuration. Where supported, they can be used to help synchronize transaction status with the merchant’s application.

How should I handle a payment timeout?

Do not automatically assume the transaction failed. Your application should follow the status/retrieval method supported by the actual gateway before resubmitting an uncertain transaction, because blind retries can create duplicates.

Can I process refunds through the API?

Refund capability and the exact workflow depend on the approved gateway/API. The merchant’s team should test and document the refund process before going live.

Does API integration eliminate underwriting?

No. API access is a technical integration method. The merchant, website, products, ownership, banking and RUO profile still need to satisfy underwriting requirements before live processing is enabled.

Can the API be used for SARMs?

The PeptidePay RUO program described on this site is not intended for SARMs. Merchants should disclose the actual product catalogue and stay within the approved merchant profile.

Can API merchants receive CAD funding?

CAD funding is part of the Canadian positioning. Eligible merchants may also have USD funding options depending on approval, banking and processing configuration.

Are there reserves?

PeptidePay promotes no-reserve structures for qualifying approved merchant profiles. Reserve requirements, if any, are ultimately determined through underwriting and the applicable processing arrangement.

Where do I apply?

PeptidePay merchant applications are submitted through Boardvia using the application links throughout this page.
